Hello and thank you for the race.
I was asked by one of your helpers to comment.
Some sugestions
1.Please please do something to show the competitors that they have completed the course. A horn or just one person with a flag that is clearly dropped when a boat has finished the race. It's very difficult to tell the angle from the water.
2. At least one more toilet.
3. Please have the race course planned out and bouyed correctly. The difference between 3 and 4 miles is quite large.
4. The marker bouys could be much larger. They also started to drift as the race went on.
5. Each rower paid $25 per person. As there was no shirt or award, (we were told there was a certificate available online that we could print out ourselves)could rowers have a whole sandwich? Rowers try to eat healthily but don't generally eat prior to a race so are very hungry after it. The 1/2 wrap sandwiches were tasty and fruit was great.
6. If you decide to use a computer again, could you have an extra battery pack or perhaps a solar pack. The loud and constant noise from the generater was problematic.

In the future, it would be sensible and fair to have boats in the same category race in the same heat. An hour in between can cause for considerable differences in tides, wind and current conditions.
Download our certificates? PLEASE!

At the Race there evolved a barter system for the goodies we received in our Shop and Stop Bag.
I myself traded my lip balm for the tube of toothpaste. ( not kidding - really took place as a joke among rowers)

Now when I print my Certificate, are there any rowers out there that want to trade my Downloaded Certificate for a 1/4 Power Bar?

Hey, Mr T Rower

How about you trade me your Downloaded Certificate for my Stop and Shop Coupons that expired in 2009. Is that a deal or what?

Sorry Mr T but you can not trade me your certificate after all. I guess the disorganization that was at this race all day long carried over to the Web Site. One month later and still no Certificates to download. I heard lots of complaints about this race and I know a number of teams not going back.

Before this exchange deteriorates into a flame war, let's just be clear: All comments must be respectful and if critical, at least make them constructive.

As for the certificates, circumstances have prevented them from being created thus far. We hope to have them available, but unfortunately, may not be able to provide them.

A couple of constructive comments:
1. If the race is not triangular take down the information and map on the website indicating a triangular course. More than one person was confused at the start.
2. Great idea to have a horn indicating when you finished the race.
3. Check the schedule for next year. I think the Slocum River race may be scheduled for the same weekend due to tides. You don't want to be competing with each other.
